How does the leaderboard work?

There are two different leaderboards in the game. The town leaderboard tracks the amount of donated villagers to each town. The town with the highest population number will be named Capital. Each town has an internal player leaderboard that tracks the amount of returned villagers by each player. You can climb through the ranks of both leaderboards by returning villagers to a town near you.
